Hendersonville Samaritan Center 2016 Annual Report

17,662 emergency relief and support services given to 4,235 families in need during 2016 of these families, 31% had not received services from us before
- 243 families given assistance with utility bills including electricity, water, and gas cutoffs
- 91 families given assistance with housing costs including rent or house payments to prevent eviction and/or homelessness
- 403 families given food from community food bank including two weeks of balanced nutrition per request
- 32 transient families given meals or housing or transportation costs to assist them on their journeys
- 185 approximate number of families served weekly with breads & bakery items donated by local groceries and distributed to Christian manor, the senior center, low-income apartments, and the veterans of foreign wars.
- 28 families given clothing, furniture or other items from thrift store in cases of burnouts or other crises
- 153 students were given week-end care packs for a total of 5,508 services food given to students who are at risk of hunger during the week-end
- 7 households assisted with 24 services through thda program to assist clients who are homeless or at high risk of immediate homelessness
- 294 families received counseling/referral services for family crisis
- 28 families served with holiday food baskets and Christmas charity
- 1,394 individuals served through the monthly soup kitchen
